16-19 School Bursary

16 - 19 Bursary Fund

The 16 - 19 Bursary Fund is designed to help and support any student who faces financial barriers to participation in education with contributions towards costs such as transport, educational trips or specific educational resources.

The 16 – 19 Bursary Fund is made up of two elements:-

Full (Vulnerable) Bursary

Some students may be entitled to a full bursary of up to £1,200 for the 2025/2026 academic year. Your child could get this if they are in one of the following applies:

· The student is in or has recently left local authority care

· The student gets Income Support (IS) or Universal Credit (UC) because they are financially supporting themselves

· The student gets Disability Living Allowance (DLA) in their own right AND either Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or Universal Credit (UC) in their own right.

· The student gets Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in their own right AND either Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or Universal Credit (UC) in their own right.

Documentary evidence of eligibility for a Full (Vulnerable) Bursary will be required on application.

Discretionary Bursary

This is a discretionary bursary fund for education providers to distribute. It’s been agreed that the main criteria for consideration of a discretionary bursary will be proof of eligibility for Free School Meals (based on household income level). We strive to ensure that we base all decisions about which students receive a discretionary bursary on each student’s individual circumstances and their actual financial need.

If you wish to apply for a bursary on behalf of your child and meet the relevant criteria, please complete and return the application form to: jrixon@curnowschool.org.uk
